This pathway is aimed at teachers who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in teaching English as a second language and teaching students from varied language and cultural backgrounds. It is also suitable for language teachers wishing to gain an accredited qualification or for those who wish to pursue research in English language teaching and learning. The program will assist in developing an understanding of the theory and practice of teaching English as a second language in a range of contexts (primary, secondary, tertiary) and the workplace in a country where English is not the official language. Specialist units include theory and practice of TESOL, issues in curriculum design and assessment in second and foreign languages, and advanced practicum in language teaching.

Students may graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma of Education - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) specialisation after completing 48 credit points comprising of the following units:
