What is required prior to commencing each clinical placementBefore commencing their practica, students must have successfully completed at least 3 of the 4 required advanced level subjects. Probationary registration with the Psychologists Registration Board of VictoriaPrior to commencing their placements, students must obtain probationary registration with the Psychologists Registration Board of Victoria. Interstate students must ensure they meet the registration requirements of the Registration Board in their State or Territory. Proof of this registration will be required before placements can commence. Apply for this registration as soon as you join the course. Placement contract and agreementBefore placement begins, students are required to set up and attend a meeting with both their field supervisor and university supervisor. During this meeting the contract for placement will be negotiated (including hours of placement, supervision and entry skills required). Students are expected to familiarize themselves with the necessary entry skills and theoretical knowledge. Students are also expected to sign a practicum agreement agreeing to abide by the rules and regulations of the agency. Both the contract and the practicum agreement should be returned to the Psychology Programs Administrator, Eileen Scott Stokes in the Krongold Centre, Room G08.
The university reserves the right to withdraw a student from placement if it sees fit. If applying for place of work to be considered as placementStudents can apply to have their work place, or a setting with which they have connections, considered as a placement. An Agency Questionnaire should be completed and sent to the course advisor. The potential placement has to be approved by the course advisor to ensure it meets the APAC accreditation requirements for a practicum placement. Please ensure all sections of the forms are completed before submitting to the course advisor.
