Do part of your 4th year / Dip Ed teaching practicum in South Korea!!!

Who is it for?

This international practicum offers students at Monash University the opportunity to complete part of their 4th year B Ed or Grad Dip Ed teaching practicum in South Korea.

If you are undertaking a specialism in TESOL, LOTE or English Education (secondary), or if you are enrolled in B Ed (primary) and have a demonstrated interest in teaching in multicultural settings, this placement could be for you. This is a wonderful way to enrich your cultural and educational experiences.

About the Korean practicum

The Korean practicum offers a number of benefits to students who wish to do their practicum in South Korea such as:

  • Free home-stay (accommodation and meals) with Korean English language teachers in secondary schools
  • Cultural experiences with home-stay family on the weekends
  • Group tours to Korean historical sites and temples organised by the Jeollabuk-do Province Office of Education
  • Cultural exchanges with Korean secondary school students and teachers

The Korean practicum involves:

  • A three week teaching practicum in South Korea (counted towards completion of your practicum requirements
  • A maximum three hours per day supervised teaching

Dates

Arrive Korea Saturday 29 August; depart Korea Saturday 19th September 2009.

Dates of Placement: Monday 31st August – Friday 18th September 2009.

Cost

Students will need to pay return airfare costs; approx cost in 2008 was $1880. A $500 subsidy is available from Monash Abroad for local students only.

Information session

Come to an information session in Semester 1 2009 and have many of your questions answered and meet:

  • a student who went to Korea in 2008
  • a representative from STA Travel
  • a representative from Monash Abroad
  • the Faculty of Education Academic Coordinator
  • a representative from the Placements Office
