Rural, Interstate and Overseas PlacementsOn this page:
Rural PlacementsAny student residing in metropolitan Melbourne who would like to undertake a rural placement must formally apply. All applications will be considered on a case by case basis by the Course Advisor and should be made at the beginning of each academic year, or where applicable – at least 6 weeks prior to commencement of the placement. All applicants will be advised via their Monash University student email as to their application outcome. Before lodging an application, students should ensure they meet the below criteria:
Before lodging an application students are encouraged to consult the information on the DEECD Student Teacher Practicum Scheme, as they may be eligible to apply and receive funding under this scheme for completing placement in a rural area. Application for a Rural Professional Placement (pdf.35Kb) Application for a Rural Professional Placement (doc.74Kb) Interstate PlacementsAny students residing in Victoria who would like to undertake an interstate placement must formally apply. All applications will be considered on a case by case basis by the Course Advisor and should be made at the beginning of each academic year, or where applicable – at least 6 weeks prior to commencement of the placement. All applicants will be advised via their Monash University student email as to their application outcome. Before lodging an application, students should ensure they meet the below criteria:
Students undertaking Early Childhood, Primary, or Secondary studies may also apply for the Maningrida placement opportunity. Please note a different application process applies for this placement. Application for an Interstate Professional Placement (pdf.43Kb) Application for an Interstate Professional Placement (doc.68Kb) Overseas PlacementsAny student who would like to undertake a teaching/professional placement in an overseas school must formally apply. It is anticipated that students wanting to undertake an overseas placement will seek out, and make tentative contact and arrangements with an appropriate school. The Professional Placements Office is not responsible for sourcing overseas placements, however they will interact with the nominated school to confirm placement arrangements. All applications will be considered on a case by case basis by the Course Advisor and should be made at the beginning of each academic year, or where applicable – at least 6 weeks prior to commencement of the placement. All applicants will be advised via their Monash University student email as to their application outcome. Before lodging an application, students should ensure they meet the below criteria:
Students undertaking Early Childhood, Primary, or Secondary studies, may apply to participate in the Cook Islands placement opportunity. Please note a different application process applies for this placement. Students undertaking Primary or Secondary studies, may also apply for the South Korea or the South Africa placement opportunity.
