Research Interests

Creative Laboratories - the merger of art and science; Nature and Technology as Impetus for Image and Process; Refluxus art group - Collaboration in Art Practice and Learning; Investigation of Grass-Roots Art Practice and Use of Natural Resources; Children's Picture Books; Reggio Emilia; Art experiences in early childhood and primary settings; Light and shadow as a medium within the art curriculum.

Geraldine's Masters artwork and exegesis explore how nature and technology provide impetus for image and process. This study locates the place where technology and nature address one another in her art and explores these concepts within a range of environments. She has defined these as worlds within the context of her work. These worlds differ according to how they are represented visually and they encompass a range of themes. The project-based approach that informs her image-making practice is explored in terms of visiting and re-visiting given themes. In doing so she adopts a range of viewpoints. Her exegesis specifically aims to locate the artwork within the current cultural climate that has influenced her; specifically she refers to the mid to late 1990s. (The exegesis is available through the Monash Caulfield Library)
