The Faculty of Education views research as one of its core responsibilities. We are engaged in a wide range of research and are committed to supporting students who wish to enter the field of educational research.

Our research programs cater for education and related professionals who wish to develop the knowledge and skills to conduct professionally-oriented research (including evidence-based and reflective practice); policy-oriented research; or more theoretically-oriented research.

Within Australian context, a research degree or 'Higher Degree by Research (HDR)' is an educational program where at least two-thirds of the program and its assessment comprises research in the form of a thesis, as distinct from coursework.
