- Collecting, analysing and organising information?
- Including use of statistics [i.e., data collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, interpretation, presentation] as a means of enabling decision-making and reporting (important for accountability purposes in industry).

- Much of workplace communication seems to be tacit — well known procedures and routines have already been established between workers — but exchanges are crucial and in the case of a breakdown meanings need to be clearly articulated and discussed or debated.
- Planning and organising activities?
- Varied planning roles involving calculations and logical organisation [e.g., timing/scheduling, sequencing; available space, furniture, staff, supplies, …]
- Working with others and in teams?

- Using mathematical ideas & techniques?
- The importance of accuracy of measurement and communication cannot be underestimated as mistakes are costly in terms of expensive raw materials wasted and delays in meeting customer deadlines — expensive, not only for this job, but for the company’s reputation with this and other customers.
- The competent use of spreadsheets and other computer templates require analytical, abstract, algebraic as well as numerical thinking.
- Using technology?
- Efficient and effective use of the pocket calculator — especially in relation to percentages — is also essential.
- Adapting to new technologies of management, equipment, and record keeping.
- (Inter)cultural awareness and understanding?
