Additional enrolment information

Enrolment load

Enrolment load is measured in EFTSL (Equivalent Full Time Student Load). A full time student will normally be enrolled in 1 EFTSL (48 credit points). An EFTSL of less than .75 (36 credit points) is defined as a part-time study load.

To overload or underload your enrolment you must get permission from the Course Coordinator.

International students, please note that under-enrolment may affect your visa.

Transfer to another course

Students who wish to transfer to another course within the Faculty should complete a Course Transfer Application Form from the Student Forms page.

Undergraduate students can only apply to transfer at the end of the year. Application forms should be submitted by 31 October and returned to the campus where the course they want to transfer to is offered.

Postgraduate students can apply to transfer at the end of each semester. Application forms should be submitted to the Clayton campus by 30 June for Semester 2 transfers, or by 31 October for Semester 1 transfers.

Enrolment amendments for off-shore students

Please note that off-shore students are governed by a different study schedule. Instead of two (2) semesters per year, off-shore students have four (4) terms. Here are the critical dates by which all enrolment amendments must be made:

Term (any year) Critical dates for changes to enrolment (any year)
Term 1  (1 Jan - 31 Mar) 14 January
Term 2  (1 Apr - 30 Jun) 14 April
Term 3  (1 Jul - 30 Sep) 14 July
Term 4  (1 Oct - 31 Dec) 14 October

Fees refund for off-shore students

Off-shore students who are varying their enrolment, such as intermission, discontinuation or withdrawal, and would like fees to be refunded or transferred to a later unit, then they must complete the Remission of Fees Form (doc 234Kb) and send it to the Faculty with their completed Enrolment Variation form and any relevant documentation.

What if you failed a unit?

Students who have failed a unit can still use WES to re-enrol. If you have failed any units, which are pre or co-requisites for the upcoming semester, the upcoming units will be shown on your web 'enrolment form' as 'INVALID'. You will need to remove any 'INVALID' units and select replacement units.
