Clinical placements for psychology students

As part of the Master of Psychology degree, students undertake three supervised practica:

  • EDF6507 Clinical placement in psychology 1
  • EDF6508 Clinical placement in psychology 2
  • EDF6509 Clinical placement in psychology 3

Each of the placements is completed in a different setting in the field. Students undertaking the Master of Psychology (Educational & Developmental) are able to undertake one of their practicum placements in the Educational & Developmental Clinic at the Krongold Centre and/or the Elwyn Morey Centre.

Students undertaking the Master of Psychology (Counselling) are able to undertake one of their practicum placements in the Counselling Clinic at the Krongold Centre.

Activities include assessment and treatment of clients from the placement setting, other file keeping and administrative work as required, and any other activities relevant to the supervised practice of counselling or educational and developmental psychology.

In addition to offering valuable professional experience under supervision, placements offer students valuable opportunities to make contacts in the field of counselling or educational and developmental psychology. The most important attitude to have is one of flexibility and openness to the experience. Take the experience very seriously and fit into the organisation in which you find yourself.
